The Comfy Crafts & Comedy Show - Jan. 17

The 2026 season kickoff of the Mockingbird Comedy Club at Old Stove Brewing Co. was a laugh-filled night with a lovely audience.

Winner Min Lin and runners-up Justine Ventura and Shawn Berg advanced to the Feb. 5 finals of The Super Stand-Up Comedy Championship Bowl after their wins Monday, Jan. 26, during the first All-Pro Comedy Show of the year at Old Stove - Ship Canal in North Queen Anne.

Round 2 of the Championship Bowl takes place tomorrow night, Thursday, Jan. 29, during The Comedy Battle Royale at Old Stove - Gardens in Ballard. Ten will enter the squared circle and three more will advance to the finals - as determined by our tough, but fair audience.

After a wildly successful start in 2025, we here at Mockingbird Comedy are planning more than 100 stand-up comedy shows this year with our friends at Old Stove. The two uptown locations are the swankiest breweries in north central west Seattle and our comedy shows feature our region’s top local famous comedians.

To celebrate, we’re kicking off our showcase season with The Super Stand-Up Comedy Championship Bowl, pitting 30 of our area’s top comedians against each other for cash prizes and the notoriety that comes with humbling your peers and lessers. We’ll have three preliminary rounds on Jan. 26 (Ship Canal), Jan. 29 (Gardens) and Feb. 2 (Ship Canal). The top 3 comedians in each preliminary will advance to the Feb. 5 final (Gardens) and a chance to win the Super Extra Big Grand Prize.

It’s the first in what we hope will be a series of shows this year aimed at educating the public about the First Amendment, our rights and duties as Americans, and the need to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3. We must take back our country from the radical anti-American cabal of oligarchs and their thralls that has stolen the U.S. and sent us on the path to ruin.

It’s really not very funny. We can do something about it, however! But first, as DJ Senor Love Daddy reminds us in the opening scene of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” we must first “Wake up!” Then we hit play on the boom box and fight the power by weaponizing laughter.

We’ll have an information table at each Mockingbird Comedy show in 2026 with knowledge and resources that should be important to every American, regardless of political stripe. And we’ll keep it real. There’s a lot of blame to go around here, people, and we’re keeping receipts.

It’s the first in what we hope will be a series of shows this year aimed at educating the public about the First Amendment, our rights and duties as Americans, and the need to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3. We must take back our country from the radical anti-American cabal of oligarchs and their thralls that has stolen the U.S. and sent us on the path to ruin.

It’s really not very funny. We can do something about it, however! But first, as DJ Senor Love Daddy reminds us in the opening scene of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” we must first “Wake up!” Then we hit play on the boom box and fight the power by weaponizing laughter.

We’ll have an information table at each Mockingbird Comedy show in 2026 with knowledge and resources that should be important to every American, regardless of political stripe. And we’ll keep it real. There’s a lot of blame to go around here, people, and we’re keeping receipts.

Project 2026 will feature a roster of the Seattle area’s local famous comedians doing a hybrid show of stand-up and digital content.

Ballard Food Bank officials tell us here at Mockingbird Comedy that they expect a 30% to 40% increase in use of services this week. For perspective, Ballard and Seattle are among the most affluent places in America. And even here, the need grows every day as politicians play chicken with real human lives.
We’ve decided to do something about it. We’ve created Belly Laughs: A Comedy Benefit for the Ballard Food Bank at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Gardens in Ballard.
How about you? Want to take action? You don’t have to create a whole comedy show. Seems kinda hard, right? Here are three easy things you -can- do to help:
1. Donate: Give as much as you can. It has been decades since we’ve had this much need in our country, and if you won’t help, who will?
2. Volunteer: The Ballard Food Bank relies on volunteers to provide many services to the community. If you don’t live in Ballard, find your food bank and go volunteer there. Or join organizations that register voters. Often, your time is as valuable as your money.
3. Laugh: We’re going to use laughter as a weapon and fight back against the notion that those in need are the problem. Please join us for Belly Laughs. Tickets are $20 with a portion of every sale going to the Food Bank’s Weekend Food for Kids program. And Old Stove will donate a dollar for every beer purchased during the show, too.
There will be Food Bank representatives on hand to answer questions, take donations and sign up volunteers. And we’ll be accepting donations of nonperishables ahead of the holidays.
Belly Laughs will be hosted by popular comedian Andrew Frank with more than a dozen of Seattle’s rising stars, many of whom are your north Seattle neighbors. Come laugh with us!
