They say comedians are the foot soldiers on the frontlines of our current culture wars. We here at Mockingbird Comedy are digging in and taking a stand by launching Project 2026: A Comedy Show for Our Times on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Ship Canal in North Queen Anne.

It’s the first in what we hope will be a series of shows this year aimed at educating the public about the First Amendment, our rights and duties as Americans, and the need to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3. We must take back our country from the radical anti-American cabal of oligarchs and their thralls that has stolen the U.S. and sent us on the path to ruin.

It’s really not very funny. We can do something about it, however! But first, as DJ Senor Love Daddy reminds us in the opening scene of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” we must first “Wake up!” Then we hit play on the boom box and fight the power by weaponizing laughter.

We’ll have an information table at each Mockingbird Comedy show in 2026 with knowledge and resources that should be important to every American, regardless of political stripe. And we’ll keep it real. There’s a lot of blame to go around here, people, and we’re keeping receipts.

Project 2026 will feature a roster of the Seattle area’s local famous comedians doing a hybrid show of stand-up and digital content.

The Big Ballard Ball Drop New Year’s Eve Comedy Celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Old Stove Brewing Co. - Gardens stuffed it in the face of 2025! Mockingbird Comedy’s 54th show of the year featured about 180 very generous people in attendance, 12 comedians who absolutely crushed it and a real ball that dropped along with a whole bunch of balloons.

And thus a tradition was born: We can’t wait to see you on Dec. 31, 2026!
